The opportunity

FGC is looking for a qualified lawyer with strong foundations, high standards and an interest in working differently.

You will work directly with Rory Forrest across the full range of matters undertaken by FGC. You will support and, where appropriate, take responsibility for defined workstreams across research, drafting, analysis and matter management.

The role is likely to suit someone in the earlier stages of their career who wants broader exposure, direct involvement in matters and the opportunity to develop within a growing practice.

Legal infrastructure combines advice, governance, entity architecture, contracts, regulatory positioning, policies, precedents, playbooks and AI-enabled knowledge systems so organisations can operate with confidence.

FGC delivers this through BUILD (legal infrastructure design), EMBED (outsourced or fractional general counsel) and STUDIO (bespoke contracts, policies, precedents and playbooks). We work across Jersey, the UAE and international markets with technology companies, financial services businesses, private capital and digital-assets businesses. Some of this work sits at the frontier of law, regulation and technology.

The work

The role may involve building a client's legal infrastructure, supporting its ongoing legal function or leading a defined workstream for a transaction, product launch or market entry. Depending on your experience, the work may include:

• legal infrastructure reviews and builds across governance, entity architecture, contracts, policies, precedents, playbooks and knowledge systems;
• embedded legal support, including contract review, policy maintenance, regulatory correspondence, monitoring and coordination of specialist counsel;
• corporate and governance work, including constitutional documents, shareholders' arrangements, corporate authorities, investments, fundraising and reorganisations;
• commercial contracts, including service agreements, supplier and client terms, NDAs, collaboration agreements, licensing and bespoke arrangements;
• regulatory, compliance and data protection work, including mapping, registrations, submissions, governance documentation and cross-border questions; and
• digital-assets work, including SAFTs, tokenisation, platform and service agreements, payments, trading, custody, derivatives and futures.

Working closely with Rory, you will analyse instructions, research unfamiliar questions, prepare and improve documents, identify assumptions and risks, maintain actions and deadlines, support agreed workstreams and capture useful know-how.

Previous experience across every area is not expected. The common requirements are strong legal fundamentals, careful thinking and the ability to get to grips with unfamiliar issues.

How you will work and develop

FGC works through a managed legal environment combining matter management, structured know-how, research tools, document assembly and AI-assisted drafting and review. Technical or legal-operations experience is not required; curiosity about unfamiliar tools is.

You will receive direct feedback on substantive work. The role can expand over time to include greater autonomy, client contact and responsibility for defined matters or areas of legal infrastructure. You must understand the work you produce, verify relevant sources and escalate questions that should not be assumed.

What we are looking for

You will be a qualified lawyer, likely within the first few years after qualification. You may be Jersey-qualified or admitted in another common-law jurisdiction. There is no rigid PQE requirement; capability, approach and potential matter more than a precise career label.

• confidence to take initiative within an agreed scope; and
• openness to feedback, technology and new working methods.

Corporate or commercial experience would be useful. Exposure to financial services, governance, data protection, fiduciary work or UAE markets would be helpful but is not essential.

Experience of, or a genuine interest in, digital assets would be particularly welcome. That experience might be legal, regulatory, commercial, transactional or product-focused. No candidate is expected to cover the whole field.

Location and recruitment

FGC operates across Jersey and the UAE. We are open-minded about where the right person is based and particularly interested in candidates in Jersey, the UAE and the UK. The initial arrangement may be part-time or otherwise flexible, with the potential to develop as FGC grows.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a short, realistic exercise based on an anonymised FGC instruction. It will test drafting, judgment, issue identification, research and the ability to move an instruction forward.
